Deodorants are chemicals that prevent or reduce axillary malodor, which results from bacterial breakdown of perspiration from eccrine and apocrine sweat glands. The sweaty odor is caused by the interaction between a variety of substances including low-molecular-weight fatty acids (i.e caproic, caprylic, isovaleric, butyric), lactates, urea and ammonia, cholesterol, and other steroid compounds. Odor control can be achieved by various means - basic hygiene (washing with soap and water) is the most important but also by antimicrobial agents, antiperspirant, fragrances or any combination of these. Here deodorant sticks were prepared with herbal antimicrobial agent and the sticks were characterized for pH, softening point, disintegration time, colour loss, stability upon 2 weeks storage and anti microbial test. The physicochemical properties remain unchanged after 2 weeks storage. The result of anti microbial activity shows that all the formulations have antibacterial activity towards all tested phytopathogenic bacteria.Keywords

Radiopharmaceuticals, as the name suggests, are pharmaceutical formulations consisting of radioactive substances (radioisotopes and molecules labelled with radioisotopes), which are intended for use either in diagnosis or therapy or diagnosis. Recently, however, there has been a significant growth of this branch of nuclear medicine with the introduction of a number of new radionuclides and radiopharmaceuticals for the treatment of metastatic bone pain, neuroendocrine and other tumours. Chronopharmaceutics has been described as a branch of pharmaceutics devoted to the design and evaluation of drug delivery system that release a bioactive agent at a rhythm that ideally matches the biological requirement of a given drug therapy. The circadian clock acts like a multifunction timer to regulate homeostatic systems such as sleep and activity, hormone levels, appetite, and other bodily functions with 24h cycles. Diseases such as hypertension, asthma, peptic ulcer, arthritis, etc, follow the body's circadian rhythm. The goal in drug delivery research is to develop formulations to meet therapeutic needs relating to particular pathological conditions. Research in the chronopharmacological field has demonstrated the importance of biological rhythm in drug therapy, and this has brought a new approach to the drug delivery systems. The application of biological rhythm to pharmacotherapy may be correlated by the appropriate timing of dosing of these drug delivery systems to synchronize drug concentrations to rhythms in disease state.Keywords

The present study was carried to evaluate the nootropic activity potential of krill oil using diazepam (5mg/kg) induced amnesia in mice. Nootropic activity was evaluated using radial arm maze (RAM), Y-maze, Morris water maze were employed to evaluate the activity. The results demonstrated that the percentage of memory increased was comparable with that of standard drug piracetam (20mg/kg). It was observed that there was increase in 45.29% of memory when it was tested in radial arm maze (RAM) and the escape latency was quantified using Morris water maze was gradually decreased from Day 0 to Day 14 i.e. 38.5 ± 0.76 to 13.22 ± 0.31, there was 89.4% of memory increased when the treated animals were tested in Y maze. So by the above results it is concluded that krill oil possess the nootropic activity. So this drug can be used for the various amnesic disorders like Short term memory loss, Alzheimers disease etc.Keywords

Hand washing for hand hygiene is the art of cleaning the hands with or without the use of water or another liquid, or with the use of soap, for the purpose of removing soil, dirt, and/or microorganisms. The main medical purpose of washing hands is to cleanse the hands from pathogens (including bacteria or viruses) and chemicals which can cause personal harm or disease. This is especially important for people who handle food or work in the medical field, but it is also an important practice for the general public. In response to this concern, we formulated the antibacterial Liquid soap. Experiment was performed by selecting the herbs which were reported to have antibacterial activity. They are Ocimum sanctum and Eugena caryophyllus. Formulated liquid soaps were evaluated for physical parameters like colour, fragrance and chemical parameters like pH, % Free alkali, Test for chlorides, Foam height, Foam retention, Alcohol insoluble matter, Microbial count etc. and the obtained results were in the acceptable limits except foam height and foam retention as we are not using SLS.

Personal hygiene is the process of maintaining cleanliness. Failure to maintain adequate personal hygiene can result in illnesses of all kinds. Poor hand-washing practices increase the likelihood of contracting contagious illnesses such as influenza and food-borne illnesses like Salmonella infection. Multipurpose herbal wash is expected to be proven more economical compared to conventional products as the customer may get the desired effect by buying one container of bodywash which can act as a shampoo also. Formulated herbal wash preparations were evaluated for physical parameters like colour, fragrance and chemical parameters like pH, percent of solids contents, viscosity, surface tension, dirt dispersion, cleaning action, foaming ability and foam stability, antimicrobial activity, anti fungal activity and results shown that all were in the accepted limits. Combination of neem and tulsi was found to be effective, easier to produce stable herbal wash formulation. It is having good foaming characters and anti bacterial as well as anti fungal activity. So it can be suitable for both skin and hair care compared to other synthetic preparations.Keywords

Polymers are becoming very important in the drug delivery field. To control the drug release rate from the formulation, polymers are being used as the main tool. Polymers can be used as taste masking agents, to enhance stability of drug and to modify drug release characteristics. Biodegradable materials are used in medicine and other areas. In recent years there has been increase in use of biodegradable polymers. Biodegradable polymers are of two classes; synthetic and natural polymers. Natural polymers offer few advantages than synthetic polymers. Although polymers are used extensively as pharmaceutical packaging, this review is concerned with the use of polymers in the formulation of various dosage forms.Keywords

Compression coating provides a unique platform for formulating modified release products in a way the dosage form can successfully be targeted to localize the release of the drug in any desired portion of the GIT without the additional step of film coating. The current work focuses on the development and optimization of modified release Verapamil Hydrochloride tablets using compression coating. The effect of various concentrations of different grades HPMC polymers, like, K4M, K15M and K100M on the release profile was studied in DOE environment. The results of the DOE provide an optimized range of the three polymers which could potentially give the targeted release profile for all drugs which have solubility profiles similar to Verapamil HCl. Three batches of optimized formulation were loaded on to accelerated stability studies at 40° C/75% RH in HDPE containers and the 3 months stability data indicates that there is no significant change in either the potency of the dosage form or its in vitro dissolution profile.Keywords

Bio adhesion can be defined as a phenomenon of interfacial molecular attractive forces in the midst of the surfaces of biological substrate and the natural or synthetic polymers, which allows the polymer to adhere to biological surface for an extended period of time. Within the oral mucosal cavity, the buccal region offers an adorable route of administration for systemic drug delivery. The buccal mucosa is considered to be a promising site for the systemic delivery of drugs where a rapid onset of action is required and for drugs that are not easily administered via other routes than by injection. The buccal mucosa being a highly vascularised area helps in rapid systemic absorption of the drug, thereby avoiding hepatic “first-pass effect” of drugs leading to quicker onset of action, which could be especially important in the management of crisis situations like cardiac arrest, epileptic seizures, severe nausea and vomiting. This article aims at reviewing on buccal drug delivery system which includes the mechanism and factors affecting buccal absorption and the methods to increase drug delivery via buccal route.Keywords
